Welcome to Pirate Volleyball!

We have a great season ahead of us with the first practices of the season starting up on 8/13 for the program! The practice schedule for that week will be as follows:

Monday 8/13 - 4:30pm - 6:30pm*

6:45pm *Mandatory Parent Meeting*  - It is important that at least one parent for each girl is in attendance. Here we will discuss the upcoming season, schedules and events and also go over some team specific things to get us started. I will need a couple parents for each team to help coordinate events and things for throughout the season so please start thinking about if you would be able to help the program out in this way. Girls must also attend this meeting!

Tuesday - Friday 8/14 - 8/17

Varsity: 4:30pm - 7pm

JV: 4pm - 6pm

**These practice times WILL change once school begins!*

Each team has an Instateam and both a player and parent GroupMe.

Girls should text me, Coach Breana, their name to be added to the appropriate GroupMe and I will follow up with the parents at the meeting.

Welcome back It is officially time for tryouts!

Things not to forget: water bottle, appropriate gear (i.e ankle braces, kneepads, spandex etc), all participation and physical forms MUST be completed PRIOR to tryout participation!

Tryouts are August 8th - 11th from 10am - 2pm

*All returning Varsity players should attend the Varsity time slots only!*

Frosh/JV (freshmen and sophomores only)

Varsity (juniors and seniors only)

All Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors (Varsity Look)  **If you want the opportunity to be considered for Varsity you may come at this time. If you are a Sophomore or Junior wishing to only be considered for JV please do not come to this time slot.

All players interested in playing on Varsity should attend regardless of class.

**This will be the final date of tryouts**

Cuts may begin as early as after the first day of tryouts and may also extend through August 11th. All players should plan to be at ALL days of tryouts. Missing any part of tryouts will undoubtedly affect your athletes prospect of making a team and or their position on a team once they have secured a spot. Practices begin immediately after tryouts for all levels. Please review the required time commitments for each level prior to tryouts and come with ALL forms completed!

Time commitment:

Frosh - 3 days a week,  1.5 hours, no tournaments or scrimmages

JV - 4 days a week, 2 hours, 2 tournaments

V - 5-6 days a week consistently, 2.25 hours, 4 tournaments

These clinics are for the player who wants to improve in their position, work on their ball control, and play competitive mini games all while fine tuning their fundamentals!

All clinics are $56 per weekend.

Breana is the Varsity Volleyball Coach and head of the program at Sir Francis Drake High School in San Anselmo. She brings to the volleyball community her extensive coaching education that has been completed under the tutelage of our current Women’s USA Olympic Volleyball coach, Karch Kiraly, our current USA Paralympic Volleyball coach, Bill Hamiter, and USAV Director of Sport Development, John Kessel. Coming off of her first year at the Pirates helm, the team had an unprecedented season finishing the MCAL in 3rd place and having one of its most successful seasons in a decade! She is excited to continue to grow the game through new opportunities such as these Pirate Volleyball clinics!

Fall Season —
As you may or may not know, the CIF and MCAL has voted to move things up and we are slated to start earlier than ever this season.
Tryouts will begin the week of August 6th with the first contacts of the season to occur as early as Friday August 17th. Players must attend the tryouts to be considered for a team regardless of whether they are a returning player or if this is their first time trying out. Not attending the full length of tryouts may have an impact on whether or not your player makes a team. Any players planning to tryout for the Pirate program should therefore plan to return by August 6th. Exact dates and times are TBD pending gym floor reconstruction. There will be NO makeup tryouts given. While we do our best to accommodate interested athletes in a variety of roles, we are a competitive program and therefore we do have “cuts” across the program. If this is not a fit for your player there are other fall programs within Drake that do not have “cuts” and may be a better fit. Please contact myself or our athletic director, Nate Severin, to learn more about these opportunities.

For early planning purposes --the mandatory program meeting for all parents and players that make one of the teams will be held on Monday August 13th at the conclusion of practices. (6:30pm)
